Window to Worlds 2024 is a digital zine comprised of written and visual art interpreting the theme ‘Difference and Change’, its aim is to showcase independent artists and their work!
This was my first time contributing to a zine of this nature— and it was very fun interpreting the theme in my own unique way!
LOVERS OF VALDARO
The 6,000 year old lovers were found in a tomb in Italy, in a tangled embrace facing each other.
I was so fascinated by the posing of the skeletons, that their love had withstood the test of time, they died devoted to one another.
In my illustration I have used the shrubs and green growth around them to communicate the life their love still takes on, even past their death. The morbid view of two skeletons isn’t such a bad thing anymore, as their bones are overcome with new growth.
